Since 2013, I've lived in the middle of the Catskills where my wife and I own The Spruceton Inn. I’m lucky. I’ve gotten to spend over a decade in a place that’s always changing and always making me take a closer look—often with a brush in hand. And what do I see? Mostly mountains and fish, the way the light changes month to month, how frost envelopes a stalk of goldenrod… you know, everything.

I show these as individual paintings, and also incorporate them into the books I make like I am The Mountain (Holiday House 2026) and The Fly Fishing Book (Odd Dot 2026). Sometimes they’ll sneak their way into a visual essay for Hyperallergic too.
